Margaret was born in 1933; she was the youngest of 5 children. Kathleen is the oldest member of Margaret’s family. Margaret’s brothers, Sam, John and Geordie have all left this world to be with God. Margaret was brought up during World War II, however, she was young enough not to remember the atrocities which occurred around her. She went to work in Gallaghers, as most of her generation did. She met and married Jimmy, and began to build her family. Margaret, had 7 children, Cathy, Robert, Rita, David, Ann, Jim and Paula. Margaret did not have an easy life. Her marriage to Jimmy ended when her children were very young. She struggled to maintain as normal and secure a life as possible for her children. She had the ability to make things interesting and always made sure her children wanted for nothing. Like most mothers, Margaret always put her children first. She believed that her children would represent her in later life, and she would always be proud of how they conducted themselves through life. Margaret had a great sense of humour. Laughter was the key in the Magee household, even during the hardest times of the ‘troubles’. Margaret met Gerry, her second husband, he passed away almost 10 years ago. She embraced Gerry’s children into the Magee family. In the 1970s, Margaret became a member of the Corrymeela Community. This was significant for her, since it meant that her children also became involved in the community. This gave an insight into cross-community, multi-denominational and multi-cultural societies. It meant that her children were given the opportunity to see all sides of the community. Margaret was a very highly thought of member of the Turf Lodge community. She had an ear for everyone, and indeed many a times she was the first one in the queue to help. One example of this was when an old lady (whose name cannot be recalled) lived in the little bungalow on Norglen Road. The bungalow went on fire, and Margaret generously gave up her own bed, so that the old lady could at least have a good night’s sleep. Margaret was the Chairperson of the Avila Credit Union for 25 years. She was in fact a member for 28 years. Her children should take great comfort in the fact that they had the opportunity of spending Margaret’s last days together, and watched their mother slip away peacefully. Margaret’s family were given a unique opportunity to spend this time together, under one roof, and be reunited as a strong and caring family, who loved their mother enormously. Mulvenna/Magee Margaret peacefully at her Daughters home surrounded by her loving Family, Cathy, Robert, Rita, Ann, David, Jim and Paula. Margaret's remains will leave her home 17a Benbradagh Gardens on Easter Monday for 1.00 Mass in Holy Trinity Church followed by burial in Miltown Cemetery. St Theresa of the roses welcome her. Deeply regretted by her sorrowing sons, daughters, daughters-in-law, Philomena, Bernie, Paula, sons-in-law, Mark, Marty, Danny, Roy, grandchildren, Danny, Jim, Conor, Damien, David, Paul, Soraya, Laura, Deborah, Lynsey, great-grandchild Daniel her Sister Kathleen, nieces and nephews Patricia, John, Ann, Thomas, Jim, Sam, Hannah, Ann, Willie, Georgina, Bridget and John and entire Family Circle.
